Naleigh Moon

Hello, cutest music video I've ever seen.
Maybe it's the time my little family is in right now... but, man this is a good one.
This is a song Josh Kelly wrote for the baby girl he and his wife, Katherine Heigl, adopted.

Isn't her name beautiful?

Holy moly, I know some awesome people.
Have you ever been over to Kenna's blog, I Write How I Talk and I Talk Funny?
If not, you've been missing out.  She's pretty awesome.
Today she spotlighted our family on her fabulous blog.
Head on over there and read it.
We are so incredibly grateful to her and those of you who have been helping us spread the word.
Someday one of you wonderful people could be the connection we need to find our little one.
I get butterflies just thinking about it.

My Boys

Feeling extremely grateful for my boys today.
The smile Jimmy gives me when he wakes up early in the morning, hugging his monkey and blanket.
The hug I get from Mason after he wakes up, comes in my room, and asks if he can cuddle with me in my bed.
Laying on Davey's chest and talking about the day, feeling warm and safe.
We all have so many things to be grateful for.
These are mine.

Happy Wednesday!

"The greatest spiritual leaders in history have all preached love for others as the basis for all happiness, and never did they accompany such mandates with a list of unlovable actions or deeds. They never said, love everybody except for the gays. Love everybody except for the homeless. Love everybody except for the drug users. Love everybody except for the gang members, or those covered in ink, or the spouse abusers. They didn’t tell us it was okay to love everybody with the exception of the “trailer trash,” those living in poverty, or the illegal immigrants. They didn’t tell us it was okay to love everybody except for our ex-lovers, our lovers’ ex lovers, or our ex-lovers’ lovers. The mandate was pretty.. clear, wasn’t it? Love others. Period."
- Dan Pearce, "I'm Christian, Unless You're Gay"
Today I read an article, a great article that I think everyone should read.
It's controversial, it's probably sparked some debate, it's straight forward.
I loved it.
As most of you know, I am Christian and I believe that my religion is what has made me who I am today and my religion is a huge part of what makes me strive to be a better person each day.
But this article isn't about religion.
"It’s about something else altogether. Something greater. Something simpler.
It’s about love.
It’s about kindness.
It’s about friendship"
Please go here and read it. You will be glad you did.

Update: Someone told me they couldn't click on the link.  Here's the whole URL if that's the case for you:

Three Babies

Yup, this is how we roll.

Hope you're having a stellar Monday.
Besides looking totally awesome in the wardrobe department,
My boys are loving life and I'm in love with how much these two adore each other.
Seriously. They LOVE each other and they never want to leave the other out.
Sure they fight like brothers do but they always end with a big hug and an, "I'm sorry" (or "I'm saaawwwwyyy," as Jimmy would say) and then they're off to play.
I really don't know what I'd do without them.

These days Mason is asking me almost every day if we can have a baby.
He actually asks for "THREE BABIES" and no matter how many times I try to explain that babies usually come one at a time, he will not let go of it. He wants three. Nothing less. But, I know when we actually are blessed with a wee little one in our home, he'll be as happy as can be.
That's another thing about these littles... they love babies.
Maybe one day they'll get to love on our baby.

New Year

Last week, when 2012 started, I was up to my nose in frustrating cabinet doors and white paint so I resolved to officially start my new year goals when that project was finished.
One thing at a time.

One thing at a time.

Every year I try to do specific monthly goals because I think for the specific things I want to work on, it's easier to make a 30-day goal rather than a 365-day goal, but here are the things I know I want to work on throughout this year:

Family Night EVERY week.
My little family is all together pretty much every night but it's nice to have a designated "Family Night" set aside for us to be together, play games, have a religious lesson or to go out and do something fun.

I want to feel good and a healthy lifestyle is what makes me feel good.
5 days/week exercise.
Less late night ice cream bowls (I said less, not none, we're being realistic here).
Daily green smoothies.

More prayer.
More scripture study.
More focus on what's really important.
As a family, as a couple and on my own.

Stress Relief
When my house is messy and unorganized, we're ALL more stressed out.
This year I plan to focus a lot on organization, finishing projects, and eliminating stress by making so we're waking up to a clean house and not to an overflowing to-do list.

Read at least 12 books this year.
Teach my boys specific preschool lessons at least 3 days/week.

I'm excited to be starting a new year.
Making brand new goals.
Becoming a better me by doing one thing at a time.
I can do this.

Unrelated side note:  Back when we were turning all our adoption papers in we were asked to make a 2-page collage of our family.  Just something that birth families could look at along with all our other information.  I don't think I ever posted them here, so here they are.

More Meals

What a crazy last few weeks!
Like I said earlier, I started painting our kitchen cabinets over Christmas break and I'm happy to say...
Once I finish the rest of the room (for the most) part I'll post pics.
For now I'll share with you a couple of the recipe links I used during the 40 Dishes in 40 Days challenge.

I made this Quinoa and Black Beans recipe and I loved it.
Interesting and yummy and I've made it several times since.
(The day I took these pics I made it with kidney beans instead of black beans)

It was good but super heavy.

Pinned Image

I'll post some more soon.
Life is crazy and I need to stick with small posts if I am going to get anything else done.
Have a happy week!

Ok Friends...
We're doing something extra special during the month of January.

ALL the proceeds from EVERY photo session that is booked and payed for during the month of January (you can book it in advance , the actual session doesn't have to occur in January) will be put toward buying wheelchairs for people in Costa Rica who do not have the means of acquiring a wheel chair with their own resources.
(Davey and I are
participating in a fundraising/distribution wheel chair project with Redmond Minerals and Wheelchair Foundation and we're hoping to raise as much as we can by the end of the month.)

So, do you need your pictures done?
Will you need them done this year?
Book and pay for your session during January and you will have purchased a wheelchair for someone in need in Costa Rica and, by doing so, given them the gift of mobility.

Contact me if you would like to book your session or if you just want to contribute.

If you contribute $25 or more, you will receive a tax-deductible contribution receipt from Wheelchair Foundation.

Here's a neat video you should watch.
If you don't have time to sit for 6 minutes, at least watch the second half (starting at 2:40).

Happy day!

This week I will be posting some links to the food I was making during my 40 Dishes in 40 Days.  I'm sorry I'm a slacker and stopped posting about that little challenge, November was super crazy.

Wow, there are a lot of really neat people out there helping us.
I felt like we should create a Facebook page to help get the word our about our hopes to adopt...
And well, it's been about 24 hours and we already have 77 followers and people have  already been sharing the page with their friends.
We are so grateful to those that have "liked" the page and shared it.
(And if you haven't... you still can! :) We need all the help we can get!)
Afterall, you never know who will be that connection to the one who will help us expand our little family.

Thank you friends!
