You're never too old

We're feeling the Christmas spirit around here.
I love it.
We've got our tree up. Our house is decorated. And the boys sat on Santa's lap for the first time the other day.
Speaking of sitting on Santa's lap,
This video is super cute.

Snow Day

It's no secret that the blogging community puts out a skewed version of the way life is.
We tell our funniest stories, show our best pictures, and talk about the fun things we do with our kids, friends and family.
Well, when I saw this first picture I thought about how cute it would be printed and placed on our wall and how it was the perfect picture to put on this blog to help document how much fun Jimmy had in the snow that day.

But then I saw this second picture.
This is an accurate representation of Jimmy in the snow.

Sure, he had fun. For a minute.
Then he was ready to be done.

And yes, those are socks on his hands.
We have yet to find gloves that don't slip off within seconds.
So, until we find some, socks it is.

A video and a winner!

I saw this video today and I love it.

I am SO sorry that in all the hustle and bustle of winning the adoption grant and all our Thanksgiving festivities, I forgot about the giveaway!
THANK YOU everyone that made a purchase or helped us by spreading the word about the contest.
We had a lot of you who helped and entered the giveaway by leaving a comment on the giveaway post and several who didn't know how to leave comments so they messaged me via Facebook instead.
So, I just put all your entries in a long list and used to select the winner.

And the winner is....

Jessica S.

I'll contact you and give you the details.

Thanks again everyone, we couldn't have done it without you all!

Family Outing

Every week we try to have "Family Night."
We are all together pretty much every night but we're trying to get in the habit of having a designated Family Night so, when our kids our older and have their own busy schedules, they will already know to keep that night open for our family.
Sometimes we stay home, sometimes we have a religious lesson, and sometimes we go out.

This night we went to Costco together.  First we shopped, then we ate dinner there.

Extravagant. I know.

You'd think he's being silly and sweet while I took this picture, but he's not.
He is saying, "NO!" because he didn't want me to take his picture anymore.
He just wanted a sip of soda.

He didn't mind though.

Happy Monday!

Inside Activities

It's been freezing outside.
So so cold.
I've been trying to think of fun things to do with my boys where we don't have to spend too much time outside.  I can't think of many things that I dislike more than being cold.

On this day we built a fort together, then we played with trains and cars and had snacks inside.

Then we went to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and we split a chocolaty treat.
We had to do this activity at a time without Davey as he doesn't even like chocolate.
Yes, those people do exist.
I have so many pictures of Jimmy looking at Mason like that.
So cute. Maybe someday I'll round them all up and post them.

Parents, what are you doing with your kids?
Have any fun activity ideas?

Here are a few things from Pinterest that we're planning on doing soon:

P.S.. Have I told you that I'm going to start preschool for my boys.
By saying "I'm going to start,"  that's just what I mean, I am going to teach them.
I've found some great sources for materials online.
I'll let you know how it's going.
Heaven help me.

Must... Have... Treats...

You can always tell when I'm trying really hard to eat healthy

By what I'm pinning on Pinterest.

Why does eating healthy have to be so hard?

Remember this post?
Well, I'm still working on my hair cutting skills.

For a while I was letting Mason's hair grow out because it was oh so cute and slightly curly at the ends.

But then it started to get past the cute point.
Despite the scraggly mess, I kept waiting because I didn't want to cut those curls off.

Until one morning he woke up and I decided it was time

For both of them.
So off it went.

I didn't do this alone though, Smarties and Cars 2 helped a great deal.
Have you ever tried to keep a 3-year-old and 2-year-old still while you cut their hair?

In the end... they're pretty proud.

Thanks to sweet babies like this one...

And my favorite of the session...

I just wanted to keep her.
Isn't she so beautiful?

Happy Tuesday!

We are so thrilled and we're extremely grateful to all of you who helped us make this happen!
I am still shocked.

It's time! AND TOP 8!

First, I'm not sure why so much of my text is highlighted in white.. it's weird.. but I don't have time to figure it out.
Second, we were e-mailed this morning and WE'RE STILL IN THE TOP 8!!!
BUT.... we need to be in the TOP 3
So, if you haven't purchased anything for our cause and you're planning on it,
The contest is over tomorrow night so please help us TODAY!
If we win we get an extra $500 on top of the 40% we already receive from all sales purchased with my name selected from the Affiliates pull-down menu at check-out. (my name, Lizzie Barrett,  has to be selected at check-out for us to receive credit)
Remember.. there are lots of options for Christmas presents for others, for yourself, AND several things you can buy for those in need in Africa.
How cool is it that you can feed 40 children in Africa by purchasing ONE sheep?
Or help the women who walk barefoot with eucalyptus branches flung over their backs up and down hills by purchasing for them a donkey to help with their loads?
You can also buy a backpack, aqua shoes for kids, fleece blankets, raincoats and combination packages of items for the children.
These items will all be given to them when the next group goes over to Africa in March.
(In case you're wondering... none of the money is used to pay for the volunteer's trips, they pay to go themselves and Ordinary Hero is nonprofit.)

So head on over to the store and do some shopping and PLEASE don't forget that for us to get credit for your purchase you NEED to select my name, Lizzie Barrett, from the Affiliates pull-down menu at check-out.

Visit the shop here.

Big THANK YOU to everyone who has helped!

We need all the help we can get and we are more grateful than you know!

If you've helped and you want to enter the giveaway on our blog click here.

TOP 10!!!

It was just announced that we're in the top 10 and we're in the running for the $500 grant to go toward our adoption!
The only problem is.....
We need to be in the TOP 3
By the end of the day Sunday.
Your $30 purchase could mean $500 toward our adoption!
Maybe you can do some of your Christmas shopping while helping us at the same time!

Be sure to check out all the cool things in the shop

and don't forget that for us to get credit for your purchase you need to select my name, Lizzie Barrett, from the Affiliates pull-down menu at check-out.

If you make a purchase (even if it's just $10) or help us by spreading the word, you can enter our giveaway!

Remember... if you don't see anything that you want to buy in the shop for yourself or for Christmas gifts for your friends and family there is another option...
Buy something for someone in need in Africa.
Did you know that buying ONE sheep will feed OVER 40 children?
So instead of going out to dinner, maybe you and your family can help feed and clothe hungry children who need some extra care and love.
Check out this link to see all the things you can buy for those in Africa.
This is a super neat option.

Thanks to all those that have helped us so far!
