Attitude

So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment.

- Thomas S. Monson
I just read the perfect thing to motivate me as I start this new year.
I have a lot of things I want to work on and it was just what I needed
and I truly think I was inspired to find it.
I would definitely recommend reading it.  Click here.
Happy Friday!

Christmas Time

Oh goodness, I love Christmas time.
We've had a busy few weeks and right in the middle of it, for some reason I decided to take down my kitchen cabinets and start the sanding/priming/painting process.
What was I thinking?
Anyway, besides that, here's some of what we've been up to...

Lots of family time...

 Lights at Temple Square...

Family dinners and gingerbread cookie eating...

Nativities...

The shepherd...

And his sheep...

Christmas Eve jammies...

Enjoying their new tent on Christmas Day...

And that's pretty much where they've wanted to spend their time ever since.
They bring their new toys in there.
They bring their old toys in there.
They want to eat their snacks in there.
Let's just say... it was a hit.

Pass Along Cards

A while ago I won a giveaway on this cute adoption blog.
I won 500 free pass along cards from Spaces For Faces!
Well, I finally got them made, ordered, and I just received them in the mail and I love them.
They had all kinds of options that I could choose from and they even worked with me on my own personal changes.
Super cool company.
Anyway, here they are...

 Front
 Back

If any of you think you will have opportunities to hand some out, let me know and I'll give you some!

We so appreciate all of you who are helping us spread the word about our hopes to adopt.
Someday all of this out-of-my-comfort-zone business will all be worth it.
Someday.

Bath Time

My boys and me after their bath time.
Man do these boys love their baths.
They would stay in all day if we'd let them.
And afterward, they love to be wrapped "like a burrito."

This is our "double burrito."

See the head-lock Mason's got Jimmy in?
That's supposed to be a hug.
He said "I really love Jimmy," just before the picture was taken.

Reminder of Kindness Link

Have you read this story yet?
If you haven't, you should.
Go head and go. Now. Read it.
It's a wonderful reminder of how we all should be.
Not just this Holiday season, but always.

I hope you're all having a fantastic December so far.
We have family trickling in from out of town and I love it.
I get giddy just thinking about it.
Holy cow, I love my family.

Here are some pics from a day in the snow...

Mason LOVES throwing snowballs. Can you see the excitement in his face?

I shared this previously...

Happy Monday!

Life has been crazy around here.
And I don't have a lot of time for a post, it is the weekend after all.
Here are a couple of cute families just for fun...

Adoption

Christmas Tree Skirt

I saw this on Pinterest and I knew I needed to make one.
"NO SEW" ... Yup, that's a project for me.
It took some time but it was easy.
And I was happy how it turned out.

I made mine with thinner (and more) fabric strips and I just used the cheapest white fabric I could find.
I found it for $1.99/yard at my nearest Joann fabric store.

It looks cuter now that we have gifts under the tree.

Happy Tuesday!

Christmas Advent Calendar

I've always wanted to make an Christmas advent calendar but have never gotten around to it.
Then this season I put some wrapped gifts under the tree and Mason has been dying of curiosity.  He asks every morning if it's Christmas yet so he can open the presents.
So, I decided that it's time.
I decided that I needed an advent calendar so he can count down the days and know how many days left until Christmas.
I searched online and saw some I liked, like this one, this one, this one, and this one.
We'll take down one each day and each card comes with an activity that we will do together as a family.

It started out as this...
 Front

Back
And here it is now...
(I flipped it around and used the back because I like the grooves on the sides.)

Activities include:

Read a Christmas Book
Drink Hot Chocolate
Do a Christmas Craft
Organize a Service for a Neighbor
Make Christmas Sugar Cookies
Make a Showman
Go to Neighborhood Christmas Party
Mail a Card to Someone Far Away
Drive Around to See the Fun Lights in Our Area
Wrap a Gift For Each Other

Here's to a super fun December.
I love Christmas.

I Can Tell That We Are Gonna Be Friends

So, in the first 24 hours of having our adoption profile up it had almost 500 views.
Awesome.
We love our friends.
A lot of you posted about our profile on blogs and Facebook.
And I've seen our "We're Hoping to Adopt" blog button (right sidebar) on several blogs, some on blogs of people that we don't even know.
Thank you.
Every step is one step closer.

On an unrelated note...
My cute friend Danica shared this video on her blog and I love it.
So much.

Happy Weekend!

You're never too old

We're feeling the Christmas spirit around here.
I love it.
We've got our tree up. Our house is decorated. And the boys sat on Santa's lap for the first time the other day.
Speaking of sitting on Santa's lap,
This video is super cute.

Snow Day

It's no secret that the blogging community puts out a skewed version of the way life is.
We tell our funniest stories, show our best pictures, and talk about the fun things we do with our kids, friends and family.
Well, when I saw this first picture I thought about how cute it would be printed and placed on our wall and how it was the perfect picture to put on this blog to help document how much fun Jimmy had in the snow that day.

But then I saw this second picture.
This is an accurate representation of Jimmy in the snow.

Sure, he had fun. For a minute.
Then he was ready to be done.

And yes, those are socks on his hands.
We have yet to find gloves that don't slip off within seconds.
So, until we find some, socks it is.

A video and a winner!

I saw this video today and I love it.

I am SO sorry that in all the hustle and bustle of winning the adoption grant and all our Thanksgiving festivities, I forgot about the giveaway!
THANK YOU everyone that made a purchase or helped us by spreading the word about the contest.
We had a lot of you who helped and entered the giveaway by leaving a comment on the giveaway post and several who didn't know how to leave comments so they messaged me via Facebook instead.
So, I just put all your entries in a long list and used Random.org to select the winner.

And the winner is....

Jessica S.

I'll contact you and give you the details.

Thanks again everyone, we couldn't have done it without you all!

Family Outing

Every week we try to have "Family Night."
We are all together pretty much every night but we're trying to get in the habit of having a designated Family Night so, when our kids our older and have their own busy schedules, they will already know to keep that night open for our family.
Sometimes we stay home, sometimes we have a religious lesson, and sometimes we go out.

This night we went to Costco together.  First we shopped, then we ate dinner there.

Extravagant. I know.

You'd think he's being silly and sweet while I took this picture, but he's not.
He is saying, "NO!" because he didn't want me to take his picture anymore.
He just wanted a sip of soda.

He didn't mind though.

Happy Monday!

Inside Activities

It's been freezing outside.
So so cold.
I've been trying to think of fun things to do with my boys where we don't have to spend too much time outside.  I can't think of many things that I dislike more than being cold.

On this day we built a fort together, then we played with trains and cars and had snacks inside.

Then we went to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and we split a chocolaty treat.
We had to do this activity at a time without Davey as he doesn't even like chocolate.
Yes, those people do exist.
I have so many pictures of Jimmy looking at Mason like that.
So cute. Maybe someday I'll round them all up and post them.

Parents, what are you doing with your kids?
Have any fun activity ideas?

Here are a few things from Pinterest that we're planning on doing soon:

P.S.. Have I told you that I'm going to start preschool for my boys.
By saying "I'm going to start,"  that's just what I mean, I am going to teach them.
I've found some great sources for materials online.
I'll let you know how it's going.
Heaven help me.
